The Hotel is a short drive to the centre of Canberra - shopping centre, War Memorial, Parliament House, museums and art gallery are all easily accessible by car. We didn't use public transport. Plenty of secure parking at the back of the Hotel and hotel room easily accessible. Staff at reception and dining room were all genuinely friendly and helpful in assisting us with our requests. We enjoyed the varied buffet selection of food for breakfast, all prepared and presented to a high standard - staff did very well catering for the large number of guests on Anzac Day and prepared a take away breakfast for our early departure. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet and we appreciated having a mid sized fridge, microwave and some kitchen utensils for preparing a few meals ourselves. Heating is comfortable in the room on a cold evening. The Hotel garden is well looked after and we appreciated the beautiful view from our room. Built in 1927 we enjoyed how the Hotel is full of history and well maintained with interesting photos and books - I loved the creaky old timber floors and architecture.

I spent two nights at this comfortable, well-located hotel. It is obviously an older hotel and the furnishings reflected this, but it had a lovely atmosphere. My room was spacious with a very comfy bed. Everything was clean and tidy. There was a little courtyard outside my room and while it was a little untidy (leaves and twigs dropped from the tree and some large spiderwebs) I enjoyed sitting out after a little clean-up . All of the staff, from the young ladies at the front desk to the cleaner and room service staff, were welcoming and friendly. The buffet breakfast was delicious.

Interesting rambling historic hotel, a bit different to the usual high rise boxes. Internal courtyard with a fountain and shade trees has a great feel on a hot day. Location good for driving in the wider Canberra area, with an adequate outdoor but secure fenced carpark. Close enough to the CBD to walk if you're spritely and inclined, and don't want to be fleeced by Canberra parking charges; or you want to have a couple of drinks in town. Buffet breakfast was standard fare but plentiful and good. Good restaurant and bar. Reception staff were friendly and efficient.

Location was really good for the activities we chose to do. Room service food was very good and excellent servings. We love coming to the Mercure Braddon because we love the buildings architecture and the history during the war years until today. So interesting how the hotel was utilised during the war time. The wonderful history is what keeps this hotel alive and people coming back.

The lady at reception rang me about check in time as it was after 6pm. When I arrived I wanted ground floor room and she changed room without any hesitation. Great secure parking at back of hotel. Breakfast delivered at 10am to room. I got to sleep in. Bed soo comfy and room huge with balcony. I've stayed there many times and great value for money.
